Pumping Station - Eastney 2

Eastney Pumping Station

Eastney

Working with Portsmouth City Council, T Coleborn & Son Ltd. completed general works to improve health and safety standards within Eastney Pumping Stations beam engine house, now open to the public as an industrial museum. Pedestrian barriers and railing infill panels were fitted, as well as the refurbishment of the basement, which included inspection works and cleaning of oil contamination. Corroded walkways and steel joists were replaced whilst new efficient lighting was fitted to provide better visibility in low light areas. Steel window refurbishments were completed on a number of the large Victorian windows inside the building with redecoration to walls and ceilings, adhering to original colour schemes and styles. Works also included the re-slating of the Boiler House roof and refurbishment of roof ventilator, replacement steels and plating to Reflux Valve Chamber and new security fencing to the pond. Special care was taken throughout the 21 week project to preserve original features.
